What an Amazing Concert

Without exaggeration, I can say with absolute certainty I have never been more proud of ...US! Our collaborative concert with the North Shore Chamber Choir, musicians from the Community Band and the Community Orchestra was an extraordinary achievement on so many levels. Between logistic commitments - both schedules and locations, to time spent in performance preparation, the effort put forth by everyone involved was exemplary. And the proof was definitely in the pudding. What an amazing concert.
Kudos to Matt. This was a bear for us to tackle. Though is wasn't composed in 1741, Rutter “Gloria” is still considered a Classical work, and that is something the current Chorale has not undertaken. With unending patience, clear, nurturing direction, and a touch of ‘whatch-a-callit’ humor, Matt enabled the Chorale to bring this piece to life. And what a life! The joy and excitement of singing this lovely work was evident in every note, every crescendo, every fermata.
The inspiration derived from Kelly’s accompaniment cannot be overstated. His beautiful playing was a springboard for us to dive into the most thunderous fortissimi* or delicate pianissimi.* We are so very lucky to have him as Matt’s “right and left hand man.”

And to our creative and dedicated Board of Directors, a huge thanks! You are the folks that make it all happen! But truly you folks, the sopranos and altos and tenors and basses of the Northport Chorale - you are stars. All your hard work, at home and at rehearsal, paid off in spades. The standing “O” we received on concert night was heartfelt and well-deserved.
A word about the North Shore collaboration - what fun! Yeah, I know...the drive out there sucked...but how great to sing in their lovely venue and for our basses to have brothers-in-arms! It was a perfect run-up to our concert and got NSCC a wonderful audience response. Our band got everybody’s blood pumping! Moving on - our next two rehearsals (May 21st and May 28th) will be in the church.
Thereafter TBA. We should have some of the new music that we will be performing in Northport Park on Thursday, July 24th.

Wednesday, September 3rd is our tentative start date for next season. Same time; same place. Tell your friends who may want to join that is the first date for auditions.
Holiday Concert is scheduled for Friday, December 5th.
* Yeah - these are the real plurals for FF and pp. I looked it up.
